Affleck, you tha BOMB in "Phantoms", Yo!

So, I’ve been watching a little Kevin Smith lately and by a little, I mean a lot. I watched “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”, “An Evening With Kevin Smith”, and the recently purchased for $4 “An Evening With Kevin Smith: Evening Harder” and I can’t get enough of it. I’m about to put in Mallrats and continue the marathon. I need to catch up and buy his other movies like Chasing Amy, Clerks, Dogma and such. This is such great stuff. You can’t beat “what happens in Princeland, stays in Princeland“.

But anyways, I have been doing quite a bit lately and keeping up with my blog, unfortunately, hasn’t been one of those tasks. Besides watching a lot of basketball, I have been trying to work on my redesign of this site, going to school and you can see some of my projects up top, and also have been editing some weddings. Lately, I’ve been thinking about building a house on my land. I thought about moving into an apartment, but the money ($500 a month) could be going into a mortgage and I could have my own house with plenty of space. I have land, so why not at least look into it. So, I have been checking at modular houses and also designing a few of my own. I have yet to make it to the bank and see if I could even get a loan for a house, but it’s a work in progress. I’ll keep you all updated on the progress if it does even progress and I’ll post some of my designs too.

On to basketball. I don’t get that much into basketball, especially OU basketball, because I become so frustrated watching the Sooners. Even when Kelvin was the coach, it was the same way. OU basketball was/is so inconsistent, it is really tough to watch. I mean OU was really good this season and when I had a chance to watch them, I couldn’t do it because they are hot and cold. I realize basketball teams are not always going to be consistent in their shooting, but OU takes it to a whole new level. OU can get hot, like they did against Syracuse, but they can also go 15-20 minutes in a game without scoring (5-10 minutes at a time). And that’s part of what happened against North Carolina on Sunday. But the reason they couldn’t score is because everyone and their dog were jacking up 3-pointers. I realize those are needed to help out Blake Griffin in the post, but there is a point in time where they needed to give it to Blake and let him get some shots, because those missed shots are equal to turnovers and North Carolina took advantage of all of them building a 10 pt lead. He only had one attempt in the first 5 minutes of the game. But on Sunday, I don’t think it would have mattered. Blake didn’t get to his old ways until the 2nd half. The first half was Blake pussying out driving the lane, turning around for a shot, and backing into the lane because of the double teams. He never had a problem with that all year long, until Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t think OU would have won, but it would have been closer, more entertaining game. OU made it further than I expected. Because of their inconsistency, I picked them to lose their first round game of the Big 12 Tourney (happened) and picked them to lose in the 2nd round game. So, it was a good year for them and should be a little letdown next year with Blake going to make his millions, but he (along with Capel) helped bring it back out of the gutter where Kelvin left it.

What the update. What, what the update.

So, I am finally back on here posting.  I apologize to my many readers for being gone so long.  And by many, I mean around 5 people who look at this.  Hopefully, with my growing portfolio along with business from Capitol City Studios, there will be more people checking on my site.  This site is a mixture between my rants/raves and my portfolio, so you’ll get to see what I’m up to.

It’s been a crazy past few months including my Mac crashing multiple times (thank you very much Leopard) and I enrolled in online school.  That stuff, including work, is taking up most of my time.  I enrolled at the Academy of Art University and I am majoring in New Media Design.  It’s a mixture of branding, design, art, and web media all in one.  So that’s my quick update for now.  I need to get to bed, I have to be up at 5am for work.  So until next time, see ya.  And I promise that there won’t be as long of gap between updates too.

Magazine

This is another trace I had to do.  It is a magazine cover I put together for my midterm.  I traced a picture of my face and added a lot of detail.  Then I laid the text over it and tada…a magazine cover.

This is some more ads put together for a fictional bank.  The pictures uses the shape of the car to promote the taglines in the ads.
